Clayton County Register, Thur., 29 Nov. 1934.

Henry C. Harnack was born June 25, 1874, in Farmersburg township. The childhood days and also those of young manhood Mr. Harnack spent with his parents on the farm. After his marriage he began to farm for himself, finally settling on the farm near Farmersburg which was to be his home until his death.

On Dec. 20, 1905, Mr. Harnack was united in marriage with Miss Emma Ihde. This union was blessed with two children, Hattie and Lonie. The happiness of this marriage was comparatively short, for the grim reaper of death in 1913 took from this life Mrs. Harnack and very shortly after the infant daughter, Lonie.

On Oct. 20, 1915, Mr. Harnack was again united in marriage with Miss Bertha Drews. Here again he had to feel the pains of death when she was taken from him only a few months ago.

The past four years of his life have been those of failing health. The cause of his suffering was not known. It showed itself at times with greatest vigor and then again apparently relinquishing its grip. The last few weeks the doctor pronounced it tumor of the liver, which also finally caused his death. The last few weeks he was again confined to his bed, and from time to time suffered greatly. He finally passed away Nov. 20th, at 10:55. He reached the age of 60 years, four months and 26 days. Mr. Harnack was a member of the St. John's Lutheran congregation of Farmersburg.

He leaves to mourn, his daughter Hattie; also two brothers and three sisters, Mrs. G. Wilker, Chas. Harnack, Mrs. Wm. Buckman, Geo. Harnack and Amanda Harnack; and also many friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 12:30 at the home and at one o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church, Farmersburg. Burial was made in the Garnavillo cemetery
