Clayton County Register, Thur., 27 Sept. 1934.

GUTTENBERG: Miss Anna Schroeder, life-long resident of this community, passed away at her home here on Saturday forenoon at 10:30 o'clock, at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 16 days, following a short illness. She resided in rooms in the Mrs. Ema Kahle residence on First Street in Guttenberg and was keeping house for her niece and nephew, the Schroeder and Tuecke children, who are attending school in Guttenberg. On Friday noon, when the Schroeder and Tuecke children came home for dinner, they found their aunt in the house unconscious. Dr. A. E. Beyer was at once called, and it was found that Miss Schroeder had suffered a stroke of paralysis some time that forenoon. She passed away Saturday forenoon. All was done that could be done to save her life, but to no avail. Miss Schroeder was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, on March 6, 1874, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schroeder, both deceased. She attended the Guttenberg public schools and was a faithful member of St. John's American Lutheran church here. Miss Schroeder was one of a kind and loving personality. To Know her was to like her. To help those in need was her greatest pleasure in life at all times, which won her many fiends in life, and by whom her memories will be forever cherished. Her death is deeply mourned by two sisters, Mrs. W_. Tuecke and Mrs. Otto Tuecke, of Clayton township; three brothers, Marvin Schroeder of Guttenberg, Henry B. Schroeder of Clayton township, and William Schroeder of Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss this good and true Christian woman. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at St. John's American Lutheran church in Guttenberg on Tuesday afternoon, with interment in the city cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, which showed that the deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her. Her death came as a shock to all in this community.
