Clayton County Register, Thur., 05 July 1934.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church here Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Rosa Peake, who died at the home near Mederville Thursday. Services were conducted by the local pastor, Rev. Edward Fikse. Interment was made in Hill Crest cemetery.

The casket was borne by Henry Klahr, Billie Bente, Charles, Ed, Bill and Otto Hakert, of Mederville.

Mrs. Rosa (Schneider) Peake was born March 25, 1883, near Elgin, Iowa. She was the daughter of U. V. Schneider and Mrs. Mary Wenger Schneider.

She was united in marriage Nov. 27, 1900, to Charley Peake, who preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1923. To this union 11 children were born, two of whom died in infancy.

On Sept. 12, 1930, she was again united in marriage to Chester Peake.

She leaves to mourn her death her present husband and nine children: Earl and Wilbur of Elkader; Clarence of Postville; Mrs. George Allman of Waterloo; Hugh, Victor, Addie, Frank and Fleet, at home. She is also survived by three sisters and six brothers: Mrs. Mary A. Callender of Newport, Wash.; Mrs. Lizzie Garber, of Blunt, S.Dak.; Mrs. Lena Postrow of Oconomowac, Wis.; Joe V. Schneider of Elgin, Iowa; Dan of Monona; John, Alf, Fred and Vic of Elkader; also nine grandchildren, besides many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The deceased reached the age of 51 years, three months and four days. A few days before her death she received the sacrament of Holy Baptism. Her smiles and kind glances will be missed by everyone, especially the children. She was never to weary or sick to smile. She lived for those who loved her, for those who knew her true, for the heaven that smiled above her and the good that she could do.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at Volga City with Rev. Edward Fiske officiating. Interment was made at Hill Crest cemetery at Volga, Monday.
