Taake, Wm. 1862 - 1934

Wm. Taake, of Farmersburg, died Friday evening at six o'clock in the home of his brother at Elkader. Mr. Taake was born Jan 17, 1862, in Read township, Clayton county, Iowa. This county was his home during his entire life.

His childhood days, and also those of young manhood, he, together with his brothers and sisters enjoyed in the parental home. In 1919 he was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Reinke, nee Pulkow. He together with his wife, lived for a short time on a small farm near Farmersburg, after which they returned to Farmersburg. These happy years of retirement were brought to a close a little over a year ago when his wife was called away by death.

Since the death of his wife, Mr. Taake made his home in Farmersburg, making long and frequent visits with his brothers, all of Clayton county.

Since Pentecost, Mr. Taake has been visibly failing in health, suffering as did his wife, with heart trouble. About two weeks ago it forced him to remain in bed. He was finally taken to his brother in Elkader, where his end came quickly without much pain or suffering, on Friday evening. He reached the age of 72 years, 5 months and 12 days.

Mr. Taake was a member of St. John's Lutheran congregation, Farmersburg.

He leaves to mourn, his step-daughter, Mrs. Geo. Radloff; three sisters, Minna Krueger of Hartford, S.Dak., Louise Glawe of Farmersburg, and Lizzetha Kelpien of Elkader; four brothers, Fritz Taake of Elkader, Heinrich Taake of Guttenberg, George Taake of Elkader, and Aug. Taake on a farm in Read township, and yet other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the George Taake home, Elkader, and the St. John's Lutheran church in Farmersburg. Interment was made in the Farmersburg cemetery.
