Clayton County Register, Thur., 21 Jun. 1934.

MONONA: Gustav A. Muth died Sunday night at his home here, after a short illness. He was 76 years of age, having been born Nov. 19, 1857, at Watertown, Wis., and with his parents settled on the Muth farm near Monona. Oct. 8, 1891, he was married to Miss Anna Seitz, who with three children survive him, John Muth of Waterloo, Miss Clara Muth, a teacher in the schools of Waukegan, Ill., and Lester Muth of Des Moines. Two nieces, Miss Helen Seitz, who teaches at Lohrville, Iowa, and Mrs. Irene Brockmeyer, of Edgewood, were reared in the Muth home. He has three grandchildren, Douglas, Jean and Jaqueline Muth. Two brothers also survive him, John Muth of Corona, S.Dak., and Will Muth, of St. Joseph, Mo.

Funeral services were held from the First Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, with burial in the Monona city cemetery, the Rev. Louis H. Joslin officiating.

Mr. Muth was an honest, industrious man, a good neighbor, kind husband and a loving father. The large attendance at his funeral shows the respect in which he was held.
