Clayton County Register, Thur., 17 May 1934.

GUTTENBERG: Gerald Henry Aulwes, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Aulwes, of Jefferson township, died at the home of his parents on Friday evening at the age of 25 years and 12 days. Owing to bone infection, the young man was compelled to submit to an operation about a year ago, at that time having had a leg amputated. He recovered from the operation and seemed to be gaining in health until of late, when he became ill again, from which illness he failed to recover. Deceased was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, on April 29, 1909, where his entire life was spent. He was a young man of pleasing personality, and was held in high regard by all in this community, and his untimely death is deeply mourned by all, especially his parents. He is survived by his parents, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Tschirgi, of this place, and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss this kind and true young man. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Martin Peters at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church here Monday afternoon, with burial in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near. The family has the sympathy of all in this community.
