John Joseph Reilly, 71, died at the family home near Cox Creek Sunday morning at 9:30 o'clock, following a lingering illness. He was born at Boston, Mass., Oct. 3, 1862, and had been a resident of Cox Creek for 68 years, residing on a farm.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Fennell, 46 years ago, and to this union were born seven children.
The survivors are the widow, two daughters and three sons, Miss Nellie at home, Mrs. Thomas Coughlan, San Francisco, Calif, Thomas, Knoxville, Iowa, James, at home, William, Fairmont, Minn.,
He was a member of the Sacred Heart church of Cox Creek and died comforted with the last rites.
The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at the residence to the Sacred Heart church at 9:30, with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery at Elkader. He was well and favorably known. Rev. Boyle of Strawberry Point officiated at the church and cemetery. He was assisted by the Very Rev. J. P. Taken at the grave. Casket bearers were: Morris Lamphier, Gregor Debes, Wm. Bruns, Pete Quinn and George Davis, all of Strawberry Point, and Harry Kramer, of Mederville.
