GUTTENBERG: Mathias Weber, 68, long-time resident of Guttenberg, died at his home here Friday morning, after a long illness. Mr. Weber was born in Trier, Germany, on April 9, 1865, later coming to America and settling in Illinois.

After residing in Illinois for some time, he came to Clayton county. He was married to Nellie Koss. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm near St. Olaf, where they resided for a number of years. They then made their home in Guttenberg.

He is survived by his wife, nine children, a number of grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

While a resident of Guttenberg, Mr. Weber was employed as a button worker for a number of years in local button factories. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. A. Dupont at St. Mary's Catholic church here on Monday morning, with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
