Edwin Daniel Rogers was born Jan. 14, 1856, at Lima, Iowa, and died February 2, 1934, at his home in Volga City at the age of 78 years and 19 days. He was the son of Martha and Steven Rogers.

On Dec. 22, 1886, he was united in marriage to Florence Eva Moore of Arlington, Iowa. To this union were born four children: Harold, at home; Irvin, who died in infancy; Hardy, at home; and Lyle, who preceded the father in death Dec. 2, 1933, at Elkader.

In 1888 he moved to Randalia, Iowa, from there to Elgin. They lived in Edgewood for two years before moving to Volga City in 1908, where he spent his remaining days.

For 30 years he was a silent sufferer, handicapped by heart trouble and complications, nevertheless uncomplaining.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Harold and Hardy, six grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 4th, at his home at two o'clock, with Rev. E. Fiske officiating. Burial was made at Fayette.

Casket bearers were: Frank Phillips, Howard Taylor, Edward Smith, Tom Ryan, Tim Ryan and Leon Blake.
