Anna Thompson was born in Telemarken, Norway, Dec. 17, 1861. She came to America with her parents in 1864 at the age of three years. Her parents settled in Clayton county, where she has since made her home. In 1880 she was united in marriage to Knut Odegard and to them were born four children; Mary, Mrs. Halvor Gisleson; Rose, Mrs. Adolph Ruroden; and Charley, all of Elgin; and Oscar, of Oelwein. Her husband preceded her in death in 1914. Since then she has been making her home with her two daughters. On Jan. 22, 1934, she had a stroke, from which she never recovered, and on Saturday evening, Jan. 27th, at 6:30, she passed peacefully away. She leaves to mourn her departure, her four children, 25 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 31st, at the Marion church, Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating.
