Guttenberg: Paul Troester, Sr., prominent Millville township farmer, died at Finley hospital at Dubuque on Wednesday afternoon of last week at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 13 days, following a several days illness. He was receiving medical treatment at Finley hospital at Dubuque when death called him.

Mr. Troester was born at Cincinnati, Ohio, on Jan. 20, 1854. When two years old he came to Guttenberg with his parents, where he resided until 12 years of age, when he went to Millville township to make his home, where the remainder of his ambitious life was spent. For many years he was successfully engaged in farming in Millville township. He was married (possibly in 1884) to Miss Elizabeth Friedlein, who preceded him in death on May 6, 1929. His death is deeply mourned by seven sons, William, Edward, John, Paul Jr., Otto, Theodore and Robert, all of Millville township; four daughters, Mrs. Caroline Truckenbred and Mrs. Josephine Webber of Mendota, Ill., and Mrs. Rose Krebs and Mrs. Lydia Krebs of Cedar Rapids; a number of grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at the home of the deceased in Millville township, Saturday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the Friedlein cemetery in Millville township. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
