Fascher, Otto 1872 - 1933

During the afternoon, at 1:35, on December 25th, Mr. Otto Fascher passed away. He was born on August 9th, 1872, in Klein Kuesten, Germany, as son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fascher, nee Welle. In the old country Mr. Fascher grew up and received his education. In 1896 he came to America and established his home in Clayton county. His mother arrived here a year earlier and passed away in the spring of 1916 at the same home where Mr. Fascher died.

On the 21st of September, 1900, was solemnized the marriage of Mr. Fascher to Miss Augusta Koehn, who was born in Germany and came in 1894 with her parents into this country. This union was blessed with six children of whom four died during infancy.

Mrs. Fascher herself died in 1910. After the death of his wife the sister of Mr. Fascher kept home for him. Later when his son, Arno, was married he stayed with him on the farm.

For about two weeks Mr. Fascher has been sick and no great hope could be given to overcome the sickness. His entire lifetime was 61 years, 4 months and sixteen days.

The departed one leaves to mourn, his two children: Mr. Arno Fascher and family, and Mrs. Harold Krambeer and family; three brothers, Carl Fascher, Garnavillo; William Fascher, Kimball, S. Dak.; Henry Fascher, Elkader; Mrs. Charlotte Tielbar. One brother, Fred, preceded him in death.

The funeral services were held at the Lutheran Zion's church at Clayton Center. Interment was made in the New cemetery. The Rev. Berthold F. Korte, officiated.
