Elkader Register, Thur., 04 Jan. 1934. Strawberry Point.

Funeral services for Mrs. L. J. Petersen occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Congregational church, conducted by Rev. T. R. Gray of Edgewood. The pall bearers were: Fred E. Tracy, A. J. Stamp, B. Stamp, Chas. Blanchard, Ernie Roberts and Earl Nichols. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Mrs. Petersen, nee Anna Rose Fritz, daughter of Barnhart and Anne Fritz, was born Aug. 17, 1874, at Guttenberg. Nine years of her childhood were spent in Oelwein, before coming to Strawberry Point. On Nov. 7, 1901, she was married to Lewis J. Petersen and the home was established on the same farm where she passed away. Four children came to brighten the home which meant additional cares and duties, but which she performed cheerfully and well, and her children bless her memory. Her life was directed by the mother-love resident in her heart. She evidenced faith beyond deeds and was a member of the Congregational church. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Order of Eastern Star, Yeomen, and Rebekahs.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Minnie Madison of Edgewood, Miss Helen, Lewis and Floyd, at home; also her aged mother, Mrs. Anne Fritz, who makes her home with them; one brother, Barnhart Fritz, of Bellfield, N.D., and a grandson, Curtis Lew Madison, of Edgewood. Her father and one brother, Henry, preceded her in death.

A most lovable soul has passed to the immortal arms above, only brushing the skirts of woe. She sleeps, nor shall she ever wake again to suffer where disease wears the heart and wastes the body. But friendly and faithful are the arms that bear her home, "where the rose of health never fades from the cheek and the lips never murmur farewell."

She passed away Sunday at the age of 59 years, four months and seven days.
