Elkader Register, Thur., 05 Oct. 1905.
At about 3 o'clock Monday morning, Oct. 2nd, 1905, William Meisner, of Boardman township, was relived of his suffering and passed away. For the past ten years he has been afflicted with rheumatism and was obliged to use crutches to get about. Evidently he had been paralyzed. He had tried everything to effect a cure, but it seemed not to be. Last Thursday he was taken with another stroke and was unconscious until he died.
William was the youngest son of Ernest and Christina Meisner, both of whom have preceded him to the grave. He was born in this township July 28th, 1868. On July 4, 1894, he married Louise Hofer, of Elgin, Ia., who with one daughter survives him. One child has preceded him in death. He is also survived by four brothers, Louis, Charles, Rynhold and Frank, all residents of Boardman township.
Deceased was a respected citizen, a kind and devoted husband and father, and while the family and community mourn, they can but feel that in death he has been relieved from his great suffering.
The funeral was held yesterday at the Congregational church at Elkader, services being held by Rev. G. W. Baxter, of this place, and Rev. Braun, of Farmersburg. The large attendance testified to the feeling of respect for the departed. His remains were deposited in the East Side cemetery.
