Elkader Register, Thur., 27 July 1905. Strawberry Point column.
The remains of Otto Helgeman, of Groton, S.D., arrived here last Monday evening for burial. Mr. Helgerman was sick but a short time with that dreadful disease typhoid fever. He was formerly a resident of this place and was well known by our readers. Mr. Helgerman was engaged in the blacksmith work here and all his friends loved and trusted him and his death came as a surprise to all. He was a friend to everybody, and all were his friends. He was married to Kate Easton and to them one child was born. Eva, who preceded her father to that home above Oct. 27th, 1904. The sorrowing wife accompanied the remains here Monday evening, and they were laid to rest beside her only child. Besides his wife, parents, brother and sisters, he leaves a host of friends to mourn the loss of a dear one. Our sympathy is extended to those who mourn. Rev. Dean officiated with a short sermon at the grave.
(Note: The surname Helgeman/Helgerman was spelled both ways in the article, as shown here.)
