Funeral services for Agnes Schiefelbein were held Monday, November 21, 1994, 1:30 p.m. at Boeke Funeral Home, Hubbard, Iowa, Rev. Harry Imlay officiated. Organist was Lois Nassen. Burial was in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery, Ocheyedan, Iowa.
Agnes (Liebenstein) Greeley Schiefelbein was born in Pearl City, Illinois, on August 10, 1898 to John and Sarah (Wiethorn) Liebenstein.
When Agnes was about a year old the family moved to Whittemore, Iowa where she grew up. They lived in Algona, Iowa from 1916 to 1919, then they moved to Garner, Iowa. In partnership with R.A. Schiefelbein, the bought out the Grobaty Dry Goods Store. Due to the lease expiring, the family moved to Hubbard in 1926 and bought the general store from the Strother Estate.
Agnes sold the Liebenstein Dry Goods Store in October 1955. In 1956 she moved to Dexter, Minnesota to help manage a store for Mr. Schiefelbein, who semi-retired.
Agnes was united in marriage to Harry Greeley on December 29, 1957, at the Methodist Church in Dexter, Minnesota. They lived on a farm, moving back to Hubbard in 1972. Harry passed away in 1977. In November of 1979, Agnes married Robert A. Schiefelbein, who passed away December 5, 1983.
Agnes passed away on Friday, November 18, 1994 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where she had been a resident since 1986.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harry; two husbands, and a nephew, Jack Liebenstein during World War II.
She is survived by two nieces, Doris Mueller of Fredercksburg, Iowa; and Phyllis Fahy of Pleasanton, California, and one great-nephew, Jack Mueller of Mason City, Iowa.

Note: Although the obit doesn't mention it, her parents, brother Harry and grandparents lived in the vicinity of McGregor and Monona, among other places in Iowa. Many family members are buried in Council Hill cemetery. Agnes was well-known by Monona folks and her visits were often recorded in the local papers over the years.
