Elkader Register, Thur., 08 June 1905. Volga Column.

Mrs. Henry Germar, was released from her sufferings and passed away Sunday, after an extended illness. She was born June 14th, 1829, and was nearly 76 years of age at her death. She came to America in 1854, landing at New Orleans, and coming to Guttenberg. In that city in 1855 she was married to Henry Germar. To them eight children were born, four of whom survive and were present at the funeral. These are: Edward, of Imogene, Ia.; Henry, of Spencer; Albert, of Des Moines; and Otto, of Elkader. The family have resided at Elkader since 1878. The funeral was held Tuesday from her late residence, Rev. Hertel, of Elkport, officiating.

(Note: WPA records indicate Therese Germar, 1829 - 1905, buried in Hill Crest cemetery.)
