Elkader Register, Thur., 26 May 1904. Strawberry Point column.

The death of John Durham occurred at the home of his brother-in-law, G. D. Ward, Friday morning, after a hard siege of paralysis of the throat. His sister, Mrs. Ward, died July 13th, 1903. The funeral was held at the Ward home Saturday, Rev. Ewing, of Arlington, officiating. Mr. Durham was always ready ready to do anything for those in trouble or distress. He leaves two sisters besides other relatives to mourn his loss. He was laid to rest in our cemetery.
