Elkader Register, Thur., 12 May 1904. Strawberry Point column.
The death of Michael Haering occurred at the homestead near St. Sebald last Sunday after several weeks of sickness. He was a faithful worker in the Lutheran church at St. Sebald. He was a man well known here and his loss is not only to his relatives and children but to all who were so fortunate as to know him. His wife, Marie Haering, preceded him in Jan. 1899, and one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Gleason, Feb. 12th, 1899. Six children, John, of Laramie, Wy., Michael, Jr., of St. Sebald, Chas. of Oelwein, Mrs. Mary Holder of Waterloo, and Lizzie and Hannah Haering, of St. Sebald, with the relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss of a dear father and kind friend. All the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Holder. Funeral services occurred at the Lutheran church at St. Sebald, Rev. Fuehr officiating. A number of our citizens attended the funeral thus showing respect to an honored and honest citizen. The sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved ones.
