Elkader Register, Thur., 07 Jan. 1904. Strawberry Point column.

Mrs. Ruth Ann Moine was born in Ohio Sept. 21st, 1822, and died at her residence in Strawberry Point, Ia., of pneumonia, on Dec. 30, 1903, after an illness of nine days, living to the age of 81 years, 3 months and 9 days. Miss Keeran was married to Jacob Moine at Crawfordsville, Ind., in 1839. They soon emigrated to Illinois where they resided about thirteen years, thence moving to Fayette, Ia., the husband dying there in 1859, preceding his wife to that "undiscovered country" by forty years. To this union four children were born. Louise Moine, dying in infancy, Frank W. Moine, who resides at Andover, Mo., Mrs. Emma Barnes and Ed Moine, both of this place, who, with the relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss of a kind friend. In 1871 Mrs. Moine moved to this place where she has since resided. She has one sister living, Mrs. Ann Buckley, of Spokane, Wash., her brothers, Levi Keeran, died in 1886, and John Keeran died Sept. 12th, 1903. In 1897 she joined the Universalist church and was an earnest and an industrious worker in the church as well as out of it, with a close adherence to a firm advocacy of the Golden Rule, always looking on the bright side of life, ever ready and willing to help the needy and the despairing ones of earth. Of faults she had but few, of good qualities she was the possessor of many. "Grandma Moine" as she was well known by all, will be long and kindly remembered. She lived a good life, a worthy, helpful example for survivors to follow. She lived to a ripe old age, retaining full mentality to the last hours, securing now a well merited, unending rest. Funeral services were held at the Universalist church Saturday afternoon conducted by Mrs. Crum, of Manchester, after which the remains were laid to rest in our local cemetery.
