Shirley Ann Kann, age 91, of Guttenberg, IA, died Monday, March 15, 2021, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born in McGregor IA on January 13, 1930, the daughter of Walter and Dora (Eberhart) Boyce.

Shirley attended school in McGregor until the age of 9 when her father took a job with the Milwaukee Railroad and moved to North Buena Vista. She attended school in Buenie until she was in 9th grade. Shirley rode the train to Guttenberg so she could attend Guttenberg High School where she graduated in 1947. On August 24, 1948, Shirley was united in marriage with Henry Kann at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg. Shirley worked for Caradco in Dubuque and Muter’s Co. in Guttenberg. She was an avid book reader and kept a daily diary. Shirley enjoyed spending time putting puzzle’s together as well as doing word search puzzles and she was a wonderful cook and baker.

Shirley is survived by her 3 children, Patricia Corkery of Wadena, IA; Michael (Germaine) Kann of Guttenberg & Kimberly Hale of Brighton, CO; grandchildren, Brian Corkery, Stephanie Corkery, Misty Corkery, Robert Wills, Ben Hale & Ryan Hale; great grandchildren, Alex Corkery, Alisha Leffler, Desaree Leffler, Dallas Leffler, Kaden Corkery, Olivia Wills, Cora Wills & Jack Wills; 7 great great grandchildren; step grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Krupp, Shelly (Zane) Hall & Derick Kann; 14 step great grandchildren & 1 step great great grandchild.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2013; 4 siblings, William Boyce, Betty Hefel, Mae Ewing & Dorina Cocanougher.

Everyone will be required to wear a mask inside the church.
