Elkader Register, Thur., 20 Mar. 1902. Strawberry Point column.
Thursday morning, March 13th death invaded the home of Dr. and Mrs. E. C. Rawson and took from them their only child and son Don. He was born at this place Dec. 4th, 1897, and was aged 5 years, 3 months and 9 days. He had been a sufferer for sixteen long days and although having every care that medical skill and loving parents could give, he passed away and God took the little bud and transplanted it into the beautiful promised world, a blossom pure and fair as the flowers that surrounded him in death. It was truly marvelous the patience the little darling showed during his weary days of suffering. It seemed from the very first his soul was filled with the sunshine of heaven for he tried so hard to be cheerful and make it pleasant for all about him and he so patient to the last. When Thursday morning came the tired little body was in death, the beautiful spirit free from all the cares of earth and at rest with the Master in Heaven - just one more little lamb within the fold. During his short life, Don, by his kind, loving way, won the love of all. His little friends and all who knew him will mourn his loss, even though he has gained a home among the angels. May the sorrowing parents be consoled with these words: "Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not for such is the kingdom of heaven." The little white casket covered with flowers were a fitting emblem of the tired little angel they adorned. The funeral services were held at the home Saturday forenoon, Rev. A. F. Marsh officiating. The parents and relatives have the sympathy of all in their hour of bereavement. Interment in the local cemetery.
