John W. Hanlon, died at the residence of his parents near Wadena, on Friday, Oct. 24th, 1879, of typhoid fever, aged 28 years.
Mr. Hanlon was born in Dublin, Ohio, in 1851, and came to Iowa with his parents some ten years ago. He was well known to many in Elkader, being a nephew of Thomas and John Kelleher and having lived here at one time. He was universally respected by all as an honest, industrious young man and a true friend. His death is a sad bereavement to his aged parents, family and relatives. The funeral occurred on Sunday last, from the Catholic church at this place and his remains were buried in the Catholic cemetery.
