DIED - At her home in Highland township, on Friday, Aug. 1st, 1879, Mary A., wife of John Hurley, aged 27 years.
Mrs. Hurley was the daughter of John and Ellen Nevens, and was born in the state of New York, coming to Clayton county in 1855, when but three years of age. Her illness of nine months duration was consumption, that fell destroyer which has made so many homes desolate. The funeral on Sunday was attended by a large number of friends the last sad rites being performed by the Rev. Father Quigley, the remains were buried in the Elkader Catholic cemetery. This sad death of a young wife leaves two little motherless babes, aged one and two years, and a husband, who mourns his irreparable loss. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their great affliction.
