Mrs. Anne Jane Leary died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.V. Schneider in La Crosse, Wisconsin, July 24th and the remains were brought to McGregor Saturday for burial in the Catholic Cemetery beside her husband and children who had passed before her.
Mrs. Leary was 88 years old and resided nearly 60 of those years in McGregor, leaving about two years ago to Gary, Indiana, where she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. John W. Allen. In April of this year she went to La Crosse where she died.
She was born in Ireland and came to this country when she was six years old, the trip taking nearly nine weeks. They settled in Northern New York, where she was married, coming west in the 50s, locating at various places along the present Milwaukee Road, through Wisconsin as the road was built, finally reaching the river and crossing to McGregor.
She leaves two daughters and two sons; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Saint James' Church, La Crosse, Saturday morning, and after arriving here, were also taken to St. Mary's, where she worshiped for so many years.
