Last Sunday evening, Mr. Albert Alley, living three miles west of this place, was splitting kindling wood, when he was seized with a severe pain in his side. He went into the house and laid down, and his family at once summoned assistance from Mr. Stringer's, a neighbors near by, but despite of all that could be done for him he lived for only about an hour.
The following day Coroner Cain impaneled a jury and held an inquest over the body of the unfortunate man. Upon the testimony of the physicians who made a post mortem examination, a verdict of death by heart disease was rendered.
Mr. Alley was about 37 years of age, and was counted a good neighbor and an exemplary citizen. He leaves a mourning wife, but no children.
Mr. Alley served his country faithfully in the war of the rebellion, and was buried with honors in the cemetery here by the G.A.R. Post of this place.
