The news reached here Thursday afternoon last week, of the death of Thomas H. Dunham, which occurred at the Soldiers Home, at Marshalltown.
Thomas H. Dunham was born in the town of Charlotte, Chautauqua Co., New York, January 5, 1837. He came to Iowa in the year 1869.
He was married to Miss Addie Wilcox, April 25th, 1871. To them was born five children, two boys and three girls, four of whom are still living.
He enlisted in Co. E, Ninth New York Cavalry Volunteers, August 30th, 1862, and was discharged January 18th, 1863, for disability.
Since coming to Iowa he has lived most of the time in Strawberry Point and Arlington. For some time he has followed the business of repairing clocks and watches.
He was admitted into the Soldiers' Home at Marshalltown, Iowa, about July 20th, 1904, where he died August 3, 1904. The remains were brought to Strawberry Point Friday morning, and the funeral held from the home of his daughter at 10:30 a.m. The funeral was held under the auspices of Henry Howard Post No. 259, G.A.R., Rev. O.C. DePuy officiating. The burial took place in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
His wife, three children and several grandchildren were in attendance.
The deceased was well and favorably known here and he leaves a large circle of friends to mourn his loss.
