Word was received last Friday that Miss Loretta Corkery had passed away in Chicago. She was taking nurses training there. She had been ill for two weeks. The town is sad. Loretta was an ideal young lady and had many friends. The family has the sympathy of the entire community. The remains arrived Saturday evening. Funeral services were held Monday.

Miss Loretta Corkery passed away in Chicago, Ill., on Friday, November 22, 1929, following an illness of two weeks and 3 days from toxic goiter, aged 21 years, 7 months and 6 days.

Anna Loretta Corkery was born at Lost Nation, Iowa, on April 16, 1908, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Corkery. At an early age she moved with her parents to this community where she attended the local schools, later going to Chicago to take up nurses training, having completed two years of the course at St. Bernard's hospital at the time of her death.

The deceased was a young lady of exemplary character and had won a large circle of friends who held her in high esteem and regard. She was loved and respected by all who knew her and she leaves a host of friends who deeply mourn her sudden passing.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Corkery of this city, five brothers, Hugh, Paul, Harold and Jack of Chicago, and James at home, and three sisters, _rene of Wadena, and Mary and Helen at home, besides many other relatives. One brother died in the World War and was buried in France.

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning, November 25th, at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart Catholic church, the Rev. D. P. Cregan officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery.

The pall bearers were Frances Corkery and Richard Corkery of Wadena, Harry Corkery of Lima, Charles Corkery of Fairbanks, Dan Barton, Jr., of Elkader, and Thos. Barton, Jr. of Chicago, all cousins of the deceased.

Out-of-town relatives present at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Corkery, Mr. and Mrs. John Corkery, Miss Mae Corkery, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Woods of Sumner; Mr. and Mrs. Erville Brinkman and William Fethgether, Oelwein; Charles Corkery, Fairbanks; Mrs. James Leahy, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Mary McGary and daughters Anna and Loretta of Ossian; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Corkery, Lima; Mr. and Mrs. Frances Corkery and Mr. and Mrs. John Corkery and family, Miss Addie Barton and Ray Barton, Elkader; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Barton and son, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Corkery, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Corkery, Harold Corkery, Jack Corkery and Dr. Hugh Barton, of Chicago.

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family and relatives.
