William J. Boehm, son of Henry Boehm and wife Frederika, nee Koehn, was born November3, 1867, in Clayton county, Iowa, near the town of Elkport. He was born and raised and lived on this farm, where he died, all his life. He was united with Miss Marie Becker in Holy wedlock on Dec. 12, 1894, by Rev. S. W. Fusch and to this union four sons were born who with the widow mourn the departure of a father and husband.
In infancy Mr. Boehm was baptized, later instructed and confirmed and was with the Lutheran church of Elkport of which he was a valuable member. During his last illness he received Holy Communion, strengthened, he waited to see what his Lord had in store for him. He passed away May 14, 1929, at five minutes to one in the afternoon, conscious to the end, he held out his hand and bid his beloved wife goodbye. Those left to mourn his early departure are his four sons, Elmer, Harvey, Walter, Kermit; his beloved widow; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Lau, Klemme, Iowa, Mrs. Minnie Musfeldt, Clarion, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Waterman, Iowa City, Iowa, and one half-brother, Henry Boehm, of Elk township, besides other relatives and a host of friends, who miss him, as he was a friend to all. He reached the age of 61 years, six months and 1_ days.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 17, 1929, at 1 p.m. at the Ev. Lutheran Imm. church of Elkport at 2 p.m. Interment was made in Mt. Harmony cemetery, Rev. F. E. Damm being in charge of the funeral. During his entire life the deceased was known as an honorable, upright man and he leaves many friends to mourn his death.
