Clayton County Register, Thur., 23 May 1929. McGregor column.
This community was shocked Tuesday afternoon to hear that Joe Quigley had been found dead at his home. Joseph Hale Quigley was born September 30, 1882, at McGregor, Iowa, and spent his life here except for a year attending the State College at Ames. He is survived by his sisters Georgia, Iola, of Des Moines, and Mrs. H. D. Fox, of Austin, Minn. Joe was loved and respected by all and a good friend is gone from our midst. Services were held at the Community rooms by Rev. J. P. Parsons. The Firemen, City Council and Odd Fellows marched in a body as Joe was Fire Chief and Assessor at the time of his death. The Odd Fellows had charge of the services which were conducted at the grave at Pleasant Grove cemetery.
