John Myers passed away at his home in Volga City, April 21, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and eight days.

Deceased was born near Peoria, Ill., on May 13, 1852. He was the son of Cornelius and Mary Myers.

In 1872 he was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Kewley, at Peoria, Ill., where they lived until 1874, after which time they moved to Volga City, where he resided until death. His wife preceded him in death May 2, 1920.

He leaves behind seven children to mourn the loss, they are: Bert, Peter, James, Clifton and Mrs. Jessie Page, of Volga City; Eli, of Oelwein, Iowa, and Mrs. Lizzie Swett, of Minneapolis, Minn.

There are seven grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, other relatives and a host of friends, who survive the deceased.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church, Rev. Brown officiating. Interment was made in Hill Crest cemetery.

A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.

God in his wisdom, has recalled,
The boon His love had given,
And though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in heaven."

Mrs. Lizzie Sweat of Neroulm, Minn., was called home by the serious illness and death of her father, John Meyers.

Mr. and Mrs. Eli Meyers of Oelwein were called here Sunday by the serious illness and death of their father, John Meyers.

John Meyers, an old and respected citizen of Volga departed this life at his home on Monday morning. Mr. Meyers was sick but a short time. This is another good citizen of Volga gone to his reward. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community.
