Mrs. Ellen Wagner Kister was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on November (Next several words blurred.) home in Monona, Wednesday, March 20. The same year in which her parents were born, Joseph and Mary Wagner moved to Garnavillo where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage on Sept. 11, 1871, to Hubert Kister, of Garnavillo. In 1882 Mr. and Mrs. Kister, with their family, moved to Monona, which has been her home since. Three children were born to this union, William J., Albert B. and Alice Schrody. She also raised a brother's daughter, Vina, and a grandchild, Alice Marie. Her husband preceded her in death in Jan. 1918, and her son, Albert, passed away in 1927. Those left to mourn are her son, William J., and daughters, Alice Schrody and Mrs. D. R. Snell, and five grandchildren, Alice Marie Kister, Leo, Raymond and Mary Schrody and Mrs. Gertrude Fisher who made their home with her; also one brother, J. F. Wagner of Monona. The funeral was held at St. Patrick's church and interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.
