The funeral services of George Palmer were held at the M.E. church Friday afternoon conducted by the pastor Rev. T. J. Elwick. Interment took place in the local cemetery. George O. Palmer was born at Highland, Iowa, Oct. 13, 1871, and passed away at Strawberry Point last Wednesday evening. For twenty-five years he made his home at Highland, going from there to Maynard and has spent the rest of his life at Maynard, Arlington, Oelwein and Strawberry Point, coming to the latter place seventeen years ago and going from there five years ago near Arlington, where his home was at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Georgia Chase Feb. 5, 1899, at Maynard. To this union two children were born, Vilbert E., at home, and Mrs. Bessie Opperman, living near Strawberry Point. Besides his wife, two children and four grandchildren, he leaves seven sisters; Miss Lydia Albright and Mrs. Edith Robinson, of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Adda Quive, of New York City; Mrs. Hattie Enyart, Mrs. Frankie Bing, Mrs. Jennie Guyer and Miss Mary Palmer all of Waterloo; one aunt, Miss Fannie Palmer, of Waterloo. One sister, Ellen, passed away some years ago at the age of nineteen.
