Clayton County Register, Thur., 11 Apr. 1929.

Marie Schuldt, only daughter of Wm. and Anna Dahling, was born September 23, 1843, at Mecklenberg, Germany, and died April 2, 1929.

In the year 1865 she was united in holy bonds of wedlock to Frank Schuldt, who preceded her in death October 6, 1911.

After the death of her husband she made her home among her children, until July 1, 1928, when she came to spend her remaining days with her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Nading, by whom she was patiently and tenderly cared for until Tuesday evening April 2 at about six o'clock when she went peacefully to sleep.

Grandma Schuldt, as she was known by everyone, was of a cheerful and sunny disposition, always looking on the bright side, and while she was yet able she was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need.

In the year 1870, May 1, she together with her husband and oldest son left their native land and sailed for America. They were on the ocean for three weeks. They came to Prairie du Chien, at which place they visited for a few days and then came to Littleport, Ia., by team at and near which place she has lived ever since.

Grandma Schuldt lived to reach the good old age of eighty-five years, six months and ten days.

She leaves to mourn her departure four daughters and two sons: Frank of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Jno. Olinger, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Henry Klahr, Mederville; Mrs. Vallie Kramer, Elkader; Mrs. John Nading and Wm. Schuldt of Littleport; eight grandchildren and a host of friends. Two children have preceded their mother in death. Mrs. John Olinger was unable to attend the burial because of illness.

The mother's love - there's none so, so pure,
So constant, and so kind;
No human passion doth endure
Like this within the mind.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at the John Nading home near Littleport with the Rev. C. H. Franke officiating. Interment was made in the Mederville cemetery.
