The death of John D. Kirkpatrick occurred Sunday and funeral services were held from the residence Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. J. Elwick pastor of the M.E. church. Interment took place in the local cemetery.
John David Milton Kirkpatrick was born at Lima, Ill., on March 5, 1845, and the youngest of a family of nine children. While a young man he moved to Carthage, Ill., where he was married to Miss Veturia Rohrbough Oct. 18, 1870. To this union two children were born: Cecil B., and Myrtle K. Mrs. Kirkpatrick died Oct. 1889. Mr. Kirkpatrick was again united in marriage to Miss Sophia Wiltse, at Independence, Iowa, Oct. 30, 1895, where they resided a short time and came to Strawberry Point which has since been their home. He is survived by his wife, two children, Cecil B., of Marion, Iowa, and Mrs. Myrtle K. Smith, of Hamilton, N.Y. Also six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, besides his oldest brother, G. W. Kirkpatrick, who resides at Carthage, Ill.
