Mrs. Lorenze Beck (nee Margaret Regner) peacefully passed away at the Herman Sodawasser home in Guttenberg on Monday, Dec. 21, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 28 days. Her death being due to a paralytic stroke and old age. Deceased was born in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, on February 23, 1843, coming to the United States in 1867, and settling at Waukon, Iowa, for a time, thence coming to Clayton County, where she spent the remainder of her life. Forty-nine years ago she was united in marriage with Lorenze Beck in Buena Vista township, where the couple lived on a farm for a number of years. Mr. Beck preceded her in death nine years ago. For a time she resided at Luxemburg, Iowa. Three years ago she came to Guttenberg to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sodawasser where she always was given the tenderest care until the Angel of Death called her to the Great Beyond. Mrs. Beck was a faithful member of the Lutheran church and a true Christian woman in every respect. She leaves no near relatives. Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in this city on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Emil Lehen officiating. The body was laid to rest in the City cemetery.
