Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Donna Mae Radloff, age 95, of Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home with family under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Donna Mae Radloff was born on August 9, 1922, the daughter of Donald and Lillian (Vogt) Oelke in Farmersburg, Iowa. She was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmersburg in 1936. After high school Donna married Homer Moritz. They were blessed with three children, David, Paul, and Mary. Homer passed away in 1950. Donna later married Charles Dohrer and they were blessed with one daughter, Kathrine. In 1963 Chuck passed away. Ten years later she married James "Bud" Courtney who passed away four years later. On February 2, 1979, Donna married school classmate Ken Radloff. They were married 37 years until his passing in August 2016.
Donna loved to be around water, whether it was the Mississippi River or the lakes of Alexandria. She enjoyed catching fish when she was younger and later fed the fish off the dock at the lake. She was an avid reader until her macular degeneration progressed preventing her from doing what she loved. Ken and Donna spent 35 winters in Donna, Texas at Victoria Palms Resort and Court. They volunteered at Knapp Medical Center for the last fifteen years until Ken's health forced them to move closer to family. Donna was a very special person and loved to visit with all people. She enjoyed bingo with the girls every Thursday taking part in this fun until just weeks before her passing.
Donna is survived by her children, David (Diana) Moritz of Lansing, Iowa, Mary Anderson, and Kathrine (Jim) Granlund of Alexandria, Minnesota; five grandchildren Dave, Michelle, Vicki, and Dawn; siblings Sharon Chapman and Kerry Ann (Joe) Schiro.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Homer Moritz, Charles Dohrer, James Courtney, and Kenneth Radloff; son Paul E. Moritz and son-in-law Ken Anderson; siblings Marinette Olsen and Calvin Oelke. Interment was held at a later date at the Clayton Center Cemetery, Clayton Center, Iowa.
