Mike Minnahan passed away Sunday afternoon. He had been in poor health for some time and had been to a hospital for several weeks. Mike will be greatly missed. He has run a hardware store for a number of years and made a great many friends, to know Mike was to like him, he always had a pleasant word and smile for everybody. He leaves three brothers and four sisters beside other relatives to mourn his loss. The family has the sincere sympathy of the entire community. His funeral was held from Sacred Heart church, Tuesday forenoon.

Michael J. Minihan, son of Maurice and Mary (Sheehan) Minihan, was born in Highland township, Clayton County, Iowa, on August 17th, 1886, and died at his home in Volga City, Sunday, October 11.
He attended the rural school, St. Joseph's school at Elkader and later took a business course at Oelwein.
In 1914 he built a home for his parents in Volga City, the family moving from the farm, which has since been their home.
In 1918 he entered the hardware business in Volga City, with his brother Maurice, and from that time until the latter part of July of this year he served this community very capably in that capacity.
He leaves three brothers and four sisters to mourn his departure. They are: Patsy and Martin of near Elgin; Mrs. Kate Cox and Mrs. Agnes Thyne of Highland township; and Maurice, Ella and Irene of this city, with whom he had made his home. Besides these relatives there are three little nieces, Betty, Dorothy and Vivian Minihan, and a large number of aunts, uncles and cousins who will regret Mike's departure most sincerely.
Funeral services will be held this (Wednesday) morning, October 14th, at ten o'clock at the Sacred Heart church. Rev. Father Schmeetz, who attended Mike constantly during his last _______ will celebrate the Requiem Mass and preach the funeral sermon, and burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.
