Herman Koehn, age 21 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Koehn of near Communia, was killed Sunday morning when his auto went into a ditch on the Elkader - Strawberry Point road, about one mile from Elkader. He was alone at the time of the accident and was returning from a dance. His body was found under his overturned auto about 8:00 o'clock Sunday morning. Signs of a struggle to free himself indicated that death had not been instantaneous.
Herman John Koehn was born Oct. 25th, 1904, in Read township and had worked on a farm all his life. Last fall he rented his fathers farm and his aged parents have made their home with his. He is survived by his father and mother, three brothers, Robert Koehn near Communia, William Koehn near Communia, and Arthur at home. He is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. Otto Beyer, Read township, Mrs. John Maehl, Jr., Read township, Mrs. Leroy Harnack, Clayton, Mrs. Edwin Osthoff, Clayton, and Hirma at home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, at 1:00 o'clock at the late home and at 2:00 o'clock at the Evangelical church, with Rev. Franke officiating. Burial in the East Side cemetery.
