The Rev. Father Louis Raedler, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic church at Garnavillo, Iowa, died at 4:40 o'clock Monday morning, at his home in Garnavillo. Father Raedler had been ill for some time.
He was born in Dubuque on Oct. 7, 1855. He studied classics at St. Francis college in Quincy, Ill., and St. Meinrad seminary, in Meinrad, Ind. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 27, 1893 by the Right Rev. Chatard, and in December, 1893, was appointed pastor of St. Joseph's church at Garnavillo. Father Raedler held this pastorate continuously from the year of his ordination to the time of his death.
Father Raedler's death is deeply mourned by his parishioners by whom he was beloved and among whom he expended every effort to fulfill the duties of his calling. During his long pastorate Father Raedler won many friends at Garnavillo. As a native of the city he was well known in Dubuque and was highly esteemed here and throughout the diocese.
The funeral was held from St. Joseph's church at Garnavillo, Wednesday morning. Archbishop J. J. Keane who was at the bedside of Father Raedler a short time before his demise, attended the services.
