Elkader Register, Thur., 23 July 1925.

Edward Connel was born, April 18, 1857, in Read township, and passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Jane Connel on, July 14th, 1925, at the age of 68 year.

Mr. Connel enjoyed fairly good health until about three months ago he suffered a slight paralytic stroke. Every thing possible was done by loved ones to give comfort and relief.

On Monday he began to fail fast, and passed away at about, midnight.

When Mr. Connel was about, sixteen years of age he was thrown from a horse and his foot was broken, which had handicapped him all through his life, in spite of that he was a good worker.

In the year of 1897, he sold his farm in Read township and from that time he lived most of his time in Elkader. His father, mother, brother and sister preceded him in death.

He is survived by two brothers, Pathrick and Martin Connel, of Luverne, Minn., four sisters, Miss Jane Connel, Mrs. Joseph Nugent, of Elkader, Mrs. Tony Ready, Hanover, Illinois, and Mrs. Tony Ready, of Sis__ton, South Dakota.

The deceased was a man of good character, generous and kind hearted and honest in all of his dealing. He was of kind disposition always ready to help any one in need. From boyhood he was a member of the Catholic Church and he died true to his faith.

The funeral was held from St. Joseph's church last Thursday, conducted by Rev. Father Takeen and was very largely attended by old friends from far and near to pay a last tribute, of respect. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

The pall bearers were: John Ehrhardt, John Geraghty, Thomas Donohoe, James Finnegan, Frank (rest of sentence omitted in the paper).

A card of thanks was signed by his sister, Miss Jane Connell.
