Mary Barnum Porter, wife of Alex Porter, died at their home in Strawberry Point, Sunday evening, after a brief illness. Mrs. Porter made many friends in Elkader while her husband was deputy sheriff, a few years ago, and all will sympathize with the bereaved family. The funeral services wee held Wednesday afternoon and the business houses of Strawberry Point closed for two hours as an indication of the high regard in which Mrs. Porter was held.
