Elkader Register, Thur., 18 June 1925.

Hans Helgeson, a successful farmer of St. Olaf, Iowa, died Monday June 8th, at his home near St. Olaf after two abdominal operations.

He was born August 25th, 1876, of parents, Peter and Jane Helgeson, on the old homestead where he has lived his life except one year spent in business at St. Olaf.

He was united in marriage with Alice Larson. To this union was born a son: Orval, Sept. 1915. Little Orval died in infancy leaving his place in the home empty. The bereaved parents then adopted Inga Hesteby who has been as their own child. Miss Enga (Nesteby) Helgeson has lost her mother and both the parents she received in Mr. and Mrs. Helgeson.

Mr. Helgerson was baptized, taught and confirmed in the church of the Norway congregation of which he has always been a member. He was carried to and from this church when his many friends gathered there to meditate his life and sympathize with his family who have lost much by his death.

His father (Peter) wife, little son, two brothers and one sister have preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his loss, his mother who has lived with him and who looked to him for help and comfort in her declining years, his daughter Inga, his brother Oscar of Dickenson, N.D., and three sisters, Mrs. E. Embretson and Mrs. Caroline Johnson, both of St. Olaf, and Mrs. D. Otterson of Dickenson, N.D.

He leaves the following message to all his friends and to as many as hear or read it. "Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon Him while he is near." "Get right with God." Do not delay. He was ready to meet his Lord and entertained the assurance that his Lord was good and that for him, to die was gain.

Note: All spellings have been transcribed as they appear in the original obituary. Surname on gravestone in the Norway cemetery is spelled HELGESEN
