Robert F. Quinn, son of Robert and Sarah Quinn passed away at Los Angeles, California, Wednesday, June 3, 1925, after a short illness. His remains were brought here and taken to the home of Mrs. Minnie Eberhart, where his son Ray Quinn and family reside.
Robert F. Quinn was born August 28, 1857, at Elkader and was united in marriage with Miss Hannah Ryan, April 18, 1883, here at Elkader.
He resided in this vicinity practically all his life time. In the fall of 1923 the family moved to California, where they have since resided. While living here at Elkader, Mr. Quinn was employed as rural route carrier for 22 years. For twenty years he served the patrons on route No. 2.
He is survived by the widow and six sons, Carroll of Calgary, Canada, James of Miami, Florida, Niel of Los Angeles, California, Ray, Phillip and Paul reside at Elkader. Two daughters survive, Frances Assmus of Independence, Iowa, and Rose Riedel of Chicago. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. D. E. Gleason, Elkader, Mrs. Jos. Ivory, Strawberry Point; five brothers, John and Peter at Strawberry Point, Larry at Volga City, Thomas and Clement at Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands, many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Quinn was a member of the Elkader Council K. of C., also a member of C.O.F. The K. of C. attended the funeral in a body.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday forenoon from the Catholic church. Very Rev. James P. Taken officiating, with interment in St. Joseph's cemetery.
