Alvina Uecker, nee Bunting, was born March 11th, 1850, at Annahof, Pomerania, Germany, and passed away at her home in Elkader, Iowa, on May 23rd, 1925, at the age of 75 years, two months and twelve days.
She was united in marriage to John Uecker on April 17th, 1874. To this union five children were born. In 1883 the family came to this county and settled in Read township, Clayton County, Iowa. Later they moved on a farm southwest of Elkader, where they remained for twenty-three years, then they moved to Elkader where they made their home. There Mr. Uecker passed away June 2, 1916. This was a severe loss to the aged mother and wife.
Mrs. Uecker was in poor health for a number of years. About two months ago she suffered with complications of diseases. Everything possible was done by loved ones to give comfort and relief.
Two sons and three daughters mourn the death of their mother, Charlie of Delmont, S.D., Mrs. Bertha Meyer of Nunica, Mich., Mrs. Anna Lemke of Read twp., Mrs. Hattie Cords of Monona, Iowa, and Frank of Cottonwood, Minn. She also leaves 25 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Wilhelmina Pank, of Alma, Wis., and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Uecker was a member of the Evangelical church at Elkader.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Franke, with interment in the East Side cemetery.
