Elkader Register, Fri. Morning, 19 Mar. 1897. Local Scrap Bag column. From the Postville Ggraphic, undated.

Mrs. John Halverson, aged 46 years, died at her home near Gunder, Monday afternoon, the funeral taking place today. Deceased was step-mother of our townsman, H. H. Lein and we understand that his father and a sister are confined to their beds with the same trouble of which the wife and mother died - acute pneumonia. Surely that is a hard visitation. - Postville Graphic.

(Note: WPA records indicate Marget Halverson, 1851 - 05 Mar. 1897, buried in Marion cemetery.)
