Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 10 Dec. 1897. Read column.
John Heiden, one of the early settlers of this county and for many years a resident of Read township, died Friday evening at the home of his son-in-law, Albert Schiefelbein, at the advanced age of 86 years, 7 months and 13 days. His remains were brought to Clayton Center cemetery. The funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Monday forenoon, the sermon being preached by Rev. F. W. Seifert.
