Sudden Death of Jos. G. Walser
On Friday last C. W. Walser received a telegram telling him to come at once to Sioux Falls, S. D., the home of his brother Joseph, as the latter was dying. In a short time came another telegram telling that all was over. Joe had been in good health until the day before, death coming as the result of an operation for hernia.
Deceased was the youngest son of Mrs. C. Walser, of Elkader, and was born here on Nov. 19th, 1871. After attending school he was apprenticed to Aug. Uecker to learn the trade of tailoring. Having completed his apprenticeship he went to Sioux Falls to engage in business and that city has been his home except a short period during which he was a member of the firm of Flanagan & Walser, at Farmersburg.
He was married at Sioux Falls in 1893 to Miss Anna Kreiser, who with two children mourns his untimely death. His mother was visiting the family at the time and C. W. Walser, of Elkader, and Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Flanagan, of Farmersburg, went to attend the funeral which was held at Sioux Falls Sunday afternoon.
Joe had many friends in this, his boyhood home, and universal were the expressions of grief when the sad news came. He is remembered as a whole-souled, industrious young man. The Sioux Falls papers speak very highly of him as a citizen and business man
