Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 19 Nov. 1897. McGregor column.

Wm. Guthrie, who has been living on his son's farm near town, formerly the Stauer Stock Farm, died very suddenly Sunday night, of paralysis. His son and wife, and his daughter and husband were here from Belle Plaine, and conveyed the remains of their father East for burial. Mr. Guthrie had not lived here long and was not very well known, but was a man who commanded the respect and friendship of all who knew him.
