Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 29 Oct. 1897. McGregor column.

Miss May Kleinhans, a teacher in the Northtown schools, died Thursday after an illness of three or four days. The funeral was held Saturday from her home in Clayton. Miss Kleinhans was a young woman of excellent character and her sudden demise cast a gloom over the community.

(Note: WPA records indicate this is an apparent reference to May Kleinhaus, 1874 - 21 Oct. 1897, buried in the Catholic cemetery in Garnavillo township.)
